Our Guatemala Trip.

Whew. I can’t believe it’s over, and we’re back home. I’ve been trying not to let my to-do list glare at me too much all day yesterday, and I still haven’t unpacked yet. Obviously, pictures are a priority  ;)

We got back monday night from a crazy-full eleven days in Guatemala. It was amazing. Almost three years to the date when I spent three months there (read about it here), while David & I were long-distance dating. Now, I got to show him so many of the places I told him about over the phone & facebook messages. He got to meet the boy we’ve sponsored since I met him three years ago. We got to climb the same volcano together, and zipline on the same one I did. And for both our first times, we paraglided!!

Ohhh, it was such a dilemma which camera to bring. In the end I brought my D90 and just my 50mm 1.4, since I don’t have international insurance. It was a risk, but it wasn’t worth paying for a full year of international insurance for only three months since my insurance expires then & I’d have to renew it. Plus I didn’t let my camera out of my sight. My credit & debit cards, however…those I can’t say the same about. Currently waiting on my new cards to come in.  ;)

It was often hard to have only my one lens (turned into a 70mm because the D90 is not full-frame), & not have a wide-angle lens. I used my iphone for the rest (find me on instagram, JillianTree). Here’s a re-cap of our adventure…

Enjoying our last day in Antigua!

This was taken in Panajachel.

This was SO CUTE! There was a band playing in the background & this guy started dancing with this old Guatemalan lady, and she was absolutely LOVING it. She couldn’t stop smiling  :)

Funny to see how technology has been incorporated…

Paragliding over Lake Atitlan!!

This photo makes my heart soooooooooooooooo happy  :) There’s def gonna be another whole blog post on this lil guy, Cristofer, and Tizate, where we volunteered for a couple days <3

We also volunteered a couple days at Casa Jackson, where they take in malnourished children. You have to wear masks if you’re volunteering under 6 weeks. That’s Emmanuel on the left, Jimena on the right. This is also gonna have its own blog post cuz I can’t even begin to write about these lil ones! <3

Last Saturday, we climbed a volcano!!

The day before we left, we ziplined. David’s slightly afraid of heights, so this one was kinda hard for him at first. He ended up liking it though!  :)

I asked this girl, Juana, to pose for a picture for me by Parque Central. One of my favorites. In her box she’s selling gum packets for 2Q.

Of course, the tourist-ey Antigua photo, taken on our last day there. <3

Just sayin’, if anyone wants to have a destination wedding in Antigua, I am ALL UP FOR IT. <3

More in-depth posts to come for sure. Along with lots of pictures  ;)

Happy Wednesday! Thankful for being back home & safety in our travels. Extra thankful today, for everything.
