THE BIG DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!
Okay well, the big day for me. I’ve been
dreading looking forward to this day for almost four months, since I started designing my own website through Showit! It makes me nervous this kind of thing..putting myself out there! Making a big deal out of something like this, when I could have easily done it quietly; but I am really trying to challenge myself in new ways. Reaching higher for my dreams, taking risks when failure is possible, getting out of my comfort zone, meeting many friends online when I so prefer in-person (though I’m not particularly good at, but working on it!), joining amazing photography communities I don’t quite feel worthy of. The past 4 months have been crazy busy, full of non-stop editing, website-designing, portfolio-building, new-friend making, photography-learning & still trying to be a good wife to my wonderful hubby, David <3
So I want to thank all who have supported me, given me their opinion on many things when asked, encouraged me, asked me almost weekly how my website-designing/photography was going, & helped me when I couldn’t quite figure something out (Julie Story!! Love you!). Thanks most of all to the Lord, my supporting parents who have helped me a lot get to where I am & then David, for putting up with my late nights, constant interruptions with questions, a messy house on busy photography days, me being on the computer a lot, supporting me, & for encouraging me through the harder overwhelming days. :)
And so….here is my made-from-scratch, designed by me, brand new website:
I would looooooove it if you would take the time & check it out!!
With the new website, I also made my facebook page that just published today! Please go & ‘like’ it :)

And now in celebration of this big day, I am posting my photos from….the Jasmine Star Workshop!
Truthfully, I took this workshop in May. Yes, four months ago. I did do a sneak peak blog, but I thought I’d be done making my website a bit earlier than september, so I had planned on waiting to blog the rest of the workshop photos…and now it’s been four months! However, the photos still make me happy, & bring back some incredible memories..
I flew from Ft Lauderdale to Orange County, CA. I roomed with this amazing girl Kimberly Chan, and we stayed up both nights waaaay too late talking, and I loved it! The night before the workshop we met up with most everyone for dinner, including J* & JD. When Jasmine walked in, I think we were all doing happy dances inside, looking at each other like ‘we’re really here.’ Jasmine is even lovelier & nicer in person, if possible. She made everyone feel so welcomed, not only that night but at the workshop the next day…
..which was, AMAZING. I learned so much about business & branding. And the photoshoot? Incredible. Stacy Kokes was our model, but her & her husband Joe are also photographers! And they drove all the way from Arizona to be the models for our photoshoot, which they did awesomely! I would say one of the best things I learned from Jasmine was her use of natural reflectors. I’d read about it on her blog, but hadn’t completely understood the concept or how awesome it was!! Atleast not until she was applying it less than ten feet from me, and getting beautiful light on their faces! I mean just check it out in this photo. Yumm. One of my favorite photos..
Yes, they are stunning!!
And so cute together :)
Just watching Jasmine doing her thing was amazing…like the photo above, when she just got him to keep taking steps closer & closer, and how awesome it turned out!
Stacy, you are gorgeous. Really.
Another of my favorite photos…
Details..the flowers used were beautiful!
What an amazing experience the workshop was. Incredible friendships were made, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything! :)
Now…for GIVEAWAY details!!
As I shared in yesterdays post, these cute mugs from Boldloft are part of the giveaway! I actually got this same pair for David on our anniversary just a few weeks ago :) Don’t worry, you’ll get new ones!! ;)
But there’s also lots of fun gift cards. Due to the fact that I love their smoothies…there’s a $50 Starbucks card. Since Godiva chocolate is just SO good, there’s a $30 gift card. Because I’m a pretty brand new wife & homemaker, and Bed Bath & Beyond was so awesome as our wedding registry store & has such wonderful stuff -there’s a $20 gift card. And thanks to the fact that Haagen Dazs ice cream is beyond yummy, there is another $20 gift card for some Raspberry Sorbet (my favorite flavor…you can get whichever you like!). And to make sure that guys aren’t thinking that the giveaway is too female-targeted (you know- chocolate, ice cream, etc…though really, David likes these almost as much as I do!) there’s also a Home Depot $20 gift card. It’s also for all the countless times (literally…we have been there over a hundred times, since we did some fixing-up on our house last year when we bought it!) that we have made the hubby&wife trip to Home Depot ;)
How to enter: (make sure you read it all, especially number 3)
1. ‘Like’ my brand new facebook page.
2. Share it! Share it on a facebook status with your friends :) Just make sure that the facebook page is tagged - as in @Jillian Tree Photography is in your status as a link. There’s no specific wording that you have to copy& paste; in the status you can talk about the giveaway or not, share my new website, be excited for me on my launch day (!!), rave about how cute the mugs are, or say something awesome or encouraging – just for some ideas! :)
3. Once you’ve done that, come back & comment (this is important) in the BLOG commenting, not the facebook commenting. The one where you have to write in your name, email & such. Comments in the fb commenting will NOT count! I left that one open for sharing & commenting in general about the blog photos/website as well for those who don’t want to participate in the giveaway – though I mean, why wouldn’t you? ;) So just leave a blog comment saying that you shared on facebook (though you can say other encouraging stuff too!). I will be checking, please be fair & legit. :)
4. Also you can check out my new website www.JillianTree.com! This isn’t required & I have no way to check legit-ness…but I’d so LOVE it if you did!! :)
& that’s it! The giveaway ends September 30th at 10AM Eastern time. All comments made before that time will be entered into the giveaway. Random.org will determine the winner, which will be announced on friday’s blog post just a couple hours after the ending of the giveaway. :) The winner is responsible for contacting me, though I will try to contact them if possible!
Not sure if I need to post this or not…but the usual facebook legal rules to giveaways apply (giveaway hosted solely on this blog, not a promotion on facebook, therefore does not need to be administered with apps on fb, etc…)
Okay, wow. Three huuuuge things in this major post! If you lasted this long, you are officially awesome! Thanks so much. Join me in my happy dance :)
