My face to his peanut-butter-breath. (Happy Birthday David!)

FILED IN: Personal, Personal

David, I made you promise not to look at my blog today. That’s because I’m writing you this, and you can’t see it till the day is done. Why? Because it contains my plans for today…your birthday!! (Friends reading this, make sure to read the PPS at the end). And those birthday plans include…

  • Extra cleaning of the house, since we were away for the weekend and I still need to finish unpacking.
  • Making you a chocolate cake. Yum.
  • Buying candles for the cake, since we don’t have any birthday cake candles. Which in itself, is an atrocity.
  • Making you my Vava’s (my Portuguese grandma’s) soup.
  • Turning that soup & broccoli into a romantic dinner with candles all round.
  • Timing it all perfectly so your cake comes out just before dinner finishes. Or attempting to, at least.  :)
  • Singing you my family’s Happy Birthday song* as you blow out the candles on the cake.
  • Wrapping your many presents. Yes, including ones that I’ve had saved up for over a year. (Okay, maybe two!)
  • Writing this blog about how much I love you.
  • Including funny ice cream pictures from the weekend in the blog. Wait, what?

Well…I guess every blog post is better with pictures, anyways! Okay, this is us on our one-year anniversary weekend just a few days ago in Venice Beach, Fl, enjoying some ice cream.

Looks innocent & yummy enough. Except for the fact that, David had peanut-butter-chocolate ice cream. And well…I do not like peanut butter, or even the smell of it. (Pause for peanut-butter-lovers to boo. Now’s your only chance, I’m not giving you another unless we meet in person, in which case I would take a hug first before the boo. Just so you know the proper order of these kind of things. Pause is now over). It’s true, I really do not like peanut butter or its’ smell, one bit. So of course, now you’ll completely understand this next picture…my utter disgust, when he suddenly, without warning, decided to breathe right in my face as we were taking pictures!!

Happy Birthday, my Love! I love you so much, even when you have peanut-butter-breath…I’ll just be begging you to please brush your teeth asap, that’s all  ;)  I love making funny faces with you, our weekend together, celebrating your birthday tonight, and spending every day of the rest of my life with you!!!!  :)

Lots of details…

PS: All pictures taken with a point&shoot. Cuz sometimes (when one doesn’t have an iPhone yet) its nice to have a camera that can fit in your shorts pocket, and one can just turn on for some quick pics without having to think a ton of camera settings.  :)

PPS: Please do not warn David of all the stuff I have planned for him. I’d like to surprise him even with everyone else knowing my plans (just like the time I flew down from Canada for his birthday 3 years ago..everyone else knew, but not only did I manage a surprise birthday party for David, but also surprised him with flying down to Florida for a few days, before being gone traveling for a year!!)  ;)

PPS: Woohoo for going out in public (and taking pictures) with almost no make-up on! lol

*My family’s Happy Birthday song. Not sure that it’s just my family’s…but we sing it! It has a completely different tune, but in order to hear that you’d have to be with me in person, and it’d have to be your birthday; I’m not singing it otherwise. I’ll be checking for proof either your driver license’s – or facebook. Cuz everyone knows both are so legit. Here it goes:

A happy birthday to you, a happy birthday to you,
every day of the year, may you feel Jesus near.
A happy birthday to you, a happy birthday to you,
and the best year you’ve ever haaaaad.
